Teaching
My teaching philosophy centres on bridging the gap between theoretical foundations and industry practice. I design skills-first learning experiences that equip students with both conceptual depth and hands-on capability, mapped to recognised industry certifications and national competency standards.

Teaching Approach
At Kaplan Business School, I oversee the teaching and learning strategy for the Data Science & Analytics discipline nationally, including subject coordination standards, assessment calibration, and academic integrity frameworks. I lead a weekly professional development program for Subject Coordinators targeting continuous improvement across curriculum design, classroom techniques, and open communication.
At RMIT University, I design, coordinate, and deliver cybersecurity subjects built around controlled lab environments with virtualised networks, cloud sandboxes, and dedicated attack/defence ranges. Students rotate through blue-team and red-team roles: configuring firewalls (pfSense, Cisco ASA), deploying SIEM solutions (Splunk, ELK), practising threat-hunting with Wireshark, Zeek, and Kali Linux, and responding to scripted incidents mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Assessment is performance-based, requiring students to architect secure topologies, execute vulnerability assessments, and document incident-response playbooks aligned with ISO 27035 and NIST SP 800-61. Subject content maps directly to national competency standards (ASQA) and global certifications including CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA CyberOps, and AWS Security Specialty.
Supervision
I have supervised 1 PhD candidate (in progress), 2 Master of Engineering (Honours) students (completed), and 1 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) student (completed). Full supervision details are available in my CV.
Mentorship
I provide ongoing mentorship and performance development for academic staff through the GROW framework, with direct reports spanning multiple campuses. My approach emphasises structured goal-setting, evidence-based feedback, and alignment between individual development plans and institutional teaching quality objectives.
